Located on the banks of the Barwon River and along the border of Queensland and New South Wales, sits the little town of Mungindi. The community is rooted in agriculture, with cotton farms being a major part of that for 40 years. Anthony Barlow, a prominent grain and cotton farmer of the area also has two-grain receival on-farm sites to store other growers’ grain.

The Solution
Anthony and his team had planted 2,000 hectares of dryland cotton and were looking for a reliable and durable cotton wrap to protect their modules while in the field and during transportation to the gin. Given the excellent relationship and experience with the brand, Anthony used Polytex Cotton Wrap.
Anthony recalls that the cotton film wrapped well around the module, putting the wrap through various stripper and picker machines without any disruptions. The operation ran smoothly and efficiently as the cotton was transported from the field to the Mungindi gin for processing, where they were scanned the RFID tags entered the bridge, the yard, and the feeder bay. Regular handling of the bales with no damage demonstrated the quality structure of the film and adhesive.
A representative from the local gin also recounts their experience with Polytex saying, “We received modules using Polytex cotton wrap last season. They scanned normally and consistently onsite, including on a double-stacker module truck across the bridge, by the scanner buggies and moon buggies in the yard and the gin feeder. Most were handled at least four times, and none were busted or assigned to the sick bay for special handling.”
The Polytex cotton wrap exceeded expectations, especially with its UV protection inhibitors. The wrap uses multiple-layer film technology to ensure high strength and protection against UV for durability while in the field, minimising waste and spoilage from exposure to the elements.
